The speaker will be Kara Tsuboi, no stranger to the camera lens or behind-the-scenes television production, including work with the Moscow Bureau for CNN, ABC News and “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings”, and anchor news reporter and producer for TV stations and news outlets in the Bay Area. Kara will discuss her professional background and her current work as Oakland A’s in-game reporter and CBS News tech reporter.

The speaker will be Ms. Sarah Chavez, Executive Director of the East Oakland Boxing Association/SmartMoves program, an afterschool program for children ages 5 - 20 in the East Oakland community. The organization provides homework assistance, physical education, computer labs, organic gardening, and healthy cooking programs. The talk will focus on the organization’s origin, mission and vision, current programs, and plans for the future.
